OOTD: Motivational Monday

Good Morning Beautiful!

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and you’re ready for a great week ahead! To give you a little added pep in your step this morning, I have this week’s Motivational Monday! I know we are all super excited (well, at least I am…) about spring, so I figured a little springtime cheer would be a nice change of pace this morning! So, here’s this week’s Motivational Monday

Outfit Of The Day - Motivational Monday

Top: BOSS, $315; Skirt: TOPSHOP, $70; Shoes: Jimmy Choo, $595; Watch: Michael Kors, $180; Bracelet: Marc by Marc Jacobs, $68; Earrings: Kate Spade New York, $68.

Does that not make you super excited for spring or what?! I know we are all over these cold days and are more than over the snow that we’ve had this winter, but just hang in there, because we’ll be rocking outfits like these before we know it ladies!

I hope you’re week gets started on the right foot! Have a great day, gorgeous!

Fix Me Up Friday: The Perfect Smokey Eye

Happy Friday gorgeous! I hope you are having a great day so far and you’re as excited for the weekend as I am! With graduation quickly approaching, everyday is more of a struggle that the last one… Talk about senioritis/no motivation! Woah!

But anyway… enough about me! So, this Friday’s Fix Me Up Friday (FMUF) is all about perfecting the smokey eye look.  I am a huge advocate for the smoky eye, but I also am a firm believer that you need to know how to do it in the right way or it’s a disaster! Since I am not the best at doing my make-up (or anyone else’s for that matter…), I am always afraid to try and rock this look because I am nervous that it will look awful! However, I recently came across an awesome little tutorial on Pinterest (follow me on Pinterest here!) for smokey eyes, so I figured I would share it with you all in addition to try it myself! So, here the amazing step-by-step guide on how to perfect the smokey eye!

Fix Me Up Friday - Step-By-Step Smoky Eye Guide

Is that not great or what?! However, the next issue I realized I had was figuring out what brand/colors of eye shadow to use. But then I realized I already had something I could try… For my 21st birthday my family and I went to Las Vegas.  While I was there I obviously wanted to look my best and try something new with my eyes for my actual birthday, so naturally I wanted to do a smokey eye.  My sister is amazing at doing both her make-up and other peoples and has a great combination of colors from MAC that she uses for her own smokey eye look.  The only problem was that she left them at home… So, there was a Victoria’s Secret in our hotel and while we were in there just doing some random shopping, I came across a smokey eye shadow palette! Perfect! So, having only used that once (when my sister did it for me…) I figured I can give that a try and make sure I am able to do the smokey eye on myself before I get any new make-up! Plus, I was surprised to find that their eye shadow was really nice (I don’t know why, because I have always heard good things about the VS make-up line).

Victoria's Secret Eyeshadow Quad - Smokey Eye

This is the one I have! Get yours here!

I will be sure to let you know how this adventure works out, and I am determined to keep trying until I get it down… While that may take awhile, I’ll certainly let you know how my first attempt goes this weekend!

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday and a great weekend! Try something new and fresh with your make-up this weekend like I am… You never know, you could really like it! Do you have a favorite look with your eye make-up? Do you love the smokey eye or do you struggle like I do? Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions on coming posts or tips on how to improve my beautifying skills!

OOTD: Thrifty Thrursday

Good Morning Darling!

Happy Thursday lovely ladies! I hope you’re having a wonderful morning so far, and your day is getting off on the right foot! I don’t know about you guys, but I could not be more ready for Spring to actually start… I know it officially began last week, but with snow earlier this week, it just hasn’t felt like Spring yet! So, in hopes of having this be the end of the cold weather, this week’s Thrifty Thursday is a super fun springtime outfit!

Outfit Of The Day - Thrifty Thursday

Top: Only, $23; Pants: Mango, $33; Shoes: DV by Dolce Vita$89 $44 (ON SALE NOW!); Bag: H&M, $41;  Watch: TOPSHOP, $50; Necklace: ALDO, $18; Bracelet: Wallis Fashion$21 $18 (ON SALE NOW!); Earrings: Body Central, $4.

Perfect for so many occasions, you could easily wear this outfit for a day of shopping and lunch with the girls or even a date night with someone special.  I cannot wait for warmer weather so I can start wearing outfits like this one again… My favorite part of Spring/Summer is wedges, and I cannot wait to finally be able to wear them (they’re just so cute and so comfortable!).

What do you think of today’s outfit of the day?! Do you love wedges as much as I do? What’s your favorite part of Spring/Summer? Let me know in the comments below, and have a lovely day ladies!

OOTD: Workout Wednesday

Hello there beautiful! I hope you are all having a wonderful Wednesday so far, and hopefully your weather is warmer than mine is… But if not, hopefully you’re at least staying warm! As I told you all last week, my sister and I finally decided to pick the race and set the date for the half marathon we’ve been talking about doing for the past year (which will be in September… AHH!).  So, while our training hasn’t technically started yet (we’re doing a 12-week training program), I am definitely doing everything I can to get in shape as much as possible starting now! So, with that, these Workout Wednesday outfits are going to start becoming very real in my life, and I am going to try and post outfits that I actually have/I’m looking to get so I can give you a little more info on the different pieces! So, this week’s Workout Wednesday is really springy and fun, and is something I’ve definitely been eyeing lately!

Outfit Of The Day - Workout Wednesday

Top: Studio by Capezio Andria, $34; Sports Bra: Casall, $74; Pants: Nike, $54; Shoes: Nike, $105.

I don’t know about you, but that outfit makes me want to go for a run… Thank goodness (hopefully it actually makes me follow through, too!).  But, a quick gym run is all you need, ladies. You don’t have to spend hours upon hours there, even if you only have time for a quick 30 minute cardio session… It’s better than doing nothing! Don’t keep putting it off, get your skinny booties to the gym!

OOTD: Trendy Tuesday

Good morning and happy Tuesday, beauties! I hope you are all having a great week so far, and you’re not stuck in any more snow! I don’t know about you, but I am so over all of this snow… Not only is it a pain in the butt, but it is really starting to take a toll on my skin and hair (more on that later, though…)!

But, enough complaining! Today we have a phenomenal little ensemble for this week’s Trendy Tuesday.  This fun dress can be dressed up for a day of work or dressed down for a day of running around and being productive! Either way, this dress is absolutely fabulous and is sure to turn the heads of everyone you run into.

Outfit Of The Day - Trendy Tuesday

Dress: MICHAEL by Michael Kors, $175; Blazer: H&M, $41; Shoes: Valentino, $1,075; Bag: Prada, $2,330; Bracelet: C. Wonder, $45; Ring: David Yurman, $900; Earrings: Kenneth Cole, $9.

Is this outfit fabulous or what?! I know that I, personally, would kill for this outfit (or really just any part of it!), but unfortunately for me, none of these items are really in my budget at the moment. Sad day for Kristen… But, with graduation around the corner, it is only a matter of time before I have a job and can start working towards fun things that I’ll be able to splurge on!

I hope you ladies have a wonderful day and stay warm in the midst of the wintery tundra that has made its way back into our life. Stay strong though, it’s almost over! What do you think of this outfit? What is on your wishlist of designer, splurge items right now? Let me know in the comments below… I may want to add them to my list also!

Introducing… Our First Ever Fix Me Up Friday!

Do You Know The Shelf Life Of All Of Your Fav. Make-Up Products? Let’s Talk About It…

Good morning and happy Friday lovelies! I hope you are all as excited about our new theme for Fridays, because I have some awesome posts coming your way in the coming weeks! For our first ever Fix Me Up Friday, we need to address a very important issue… The shelf life of make-up products.  Do you ever throw away unused make-up? No, of course not, right? Well actually, wrong! I know, I know, this sounds absolutely crazy especially given the amount of money we spend on such products. Not only are these products no longer going to be as effective and work as well, but, it can actually be harmful to your face and skin if you are using these products for too long after they should have been tossed!

The eye area is the most sensitive and also the easiest to become infected with using make-up that is old and “contaminated”.  Infections such as styes and conjunctivitis are just two of the possible effects that can be produced from old products.  Second to the eyes, is your skin.  The skin on your face is extremely soft and sensitive, and therefore should only be treated with the best products.  Using foundation, concealer, BB cream, and powder that is past it’s recommended shelf life can cause infections on the skin including impetigo, and not to mention breakouts with painful pimples, blemishes, and blackheads.  Ew, now who wants those, right?! Well the good news is, by sticking to these easy to follow guidelines, you can avoid all of these nasty side effects of nasty, old make-up!

Fix Me Up Friday - Make-Up Shelf Life

Fix Me Up Friday - Make-Up Shelf Life

I know some of these time frames may seem a little short, and you’re probably thinking that it takes you a lot longer than six months to go through your entire pot of eye-liner, but I’m telling you ladies, it is really important to follow these guidelines… One day you may thank me! However, if you’re anything like me and you’re on a bit of a [tight] budget, throwing away your perfectly good, outrageously expensive make-up products may seem like the craziest idea you’ve heard since the weather channel forecasted more snow for next week (yup, I’m not kidding… Next Tuesday is calling for more darn snow!), so there are some ways to extend the life of your products a little.  One way is to store your make-up in a cool, dry place (like the refrigerator!).  Because most of your products (mascara, liquid eye-liner and foundation, etc.) are either water or oil based, they tend to draw in a lot of bacteria which then multiplies.  But, if it is being store in a cold and dry place, it is harder for these bacteria to fester and grow.  Another way to extend the life of your mascara is to avoid “pumping” the brush in and out before using it.  I can promise you that you’re not getting any more mascara on that brush than it would have had before, but what you are doing is adding more air into the bottle, which causes bacteria to get in and also encourages the growth of mold and other nasty things we don’t want anywhere near our eyes!

In no world am I trying to scare you though, ladies! To be completely honest, when I was doing my research on these shelf-lives and the harmful effects that can occur when you don’t follow these guidelines, I considered never wearing make-up again (for about 2.5 seconds, but then I thought I would do the human race a favor, and continue on with the application of my face everyday… Don’t want to scare the children now, do I!?). All of these serious conditions that can be caused by such a simple thing as covering up a nasty pimple or putting on a simple coat of mascara (to, as my roommate [Kasey] would say, let the world know she is a human and has eye lashes) are really scary and I would never have thought of such a thing had I not come across about 1,937 pictures on Pinterest (follow me by clicking here!) and decided to look into these so called “shelf-lives”.  It was only then that I came across a ton of extremely useful information about the dangers I have been exposed to since I started wearing make-up.  So, do yourself a favor, on your way home tonight, stop at Sephora (or at the mall) and pick up a replacement mascara and everything you may have had in your make-up bag since 7th grade, and toss the old ones! Even if they aren’t gone, if they are that old (or anywhere close to it!) it is time to pitch it and treat yourself to a fresh one.

I hope y’all enjoyed our first Fix Me Up Friday, and hopefully you learned a little something! Do you have an idea for next week’s post (or an upcoming week… I have a few ideas myself, also!)? Don’t keep it in, either leave a comment or email me at kristen.booth06 [at] gmail [dot] com with any ideas, suggestions, comments, or concerns you have about this post or any of the others! I love hearing from you all, so please don’t be shy!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday evening (and night!) and a wonderful weekend! It is going to be absolutely beautiful, so get outside and do something fun!

OOTD: Thrifty Thursday

Good morning, gorgeous!

Hello there and happy Thursday my loves! As I’m sure many of you are already wondering, “What’s up with this Thrifty Thursday I’m seeing…?” I have decided to change a few things around, and make Thursdays now Thrifty Thursday, and Friday will then change to For Your Face Friday (instead of our current Wallet Friendly Friday).  I have been getting requests for some more posts about beauty products and make-up ideas, so that is why the change has been made! Keep the suggestions flowing, y’all! I love hearing what you have to say!

But, for our first ever Thrifty Thursday we have an amazing little ensemble that is perfect for this time of year.  With the weather changing drastically from day to day (one day it’s 70 degrees and sunny, and then the next we’re getting a foot of snow… Literally!) it is so hard to know how to dress and what is “seasonally appropriate.” Well this outfit works for both a cold winter’s day and a cool sunny early spring afternoon! So, without further ado, here is our first of many Thrifty Thursday‘s to come.

Outfit Of The Day - Thrifty Thursday

Top: American Eagle Outfitters, $50; Pants: Mango, $40; Shoes: Nine West, $80; Bracelet: Emations, $20; Watch: Fossil$95 $60 (ON SALE NOW!); Earrings: Lucky Brand$15 $9 (ON SALE NOW! )

Do you love this outfit or what?! I cannot wait until it is finally springtime, and sunny, and warm, and a time when I don’t have to make sure I am up early enough to have time to start my car 20 minutes before I have to leave my house because it is so unbelievably cold.  I am also absolutely ecstatic about the fact that the days of below freezing temperatures are limited (for this year at least…), and sandal, shorts, dress, and wedge weather is upon us! Ah, these are my favorite things ever, so naturally I am so excited that I can’t stop thinking about it! But, the one plus about still having some colder days left? BOOTS! I absolutely love boots, and these Nine West boots happen to be one of my all time favorites! I tried so hard to find them in my size all winter, and for some reason I was never able to get my hands on these beauties, but you better believe I will have my eyes peeled until I have them in my hands (even if it’s 20 years down the road when I will call them “vintage” to make myself feel better…)!

But, I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday, and don’t forget to check back tomorrow for our first ever For Your Face Friday!

OOTD: Workout Wednesday

Good morning and happy Wednesday lovelies!

So I’ve made it to week two of lent, and so far I’m going strong! No dessert, more workouts (less laziness…), and (a little) less complaining… Hey, that one’s really hard! I am definitely trying, but it isn’t as easy as it may seem.  But, this week’s Workout Wednesday is an awesome little ensemble to get my sister and I motivated to run like the wind.  We are officially doing the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon in Washington, DC this September, and it is going to take a lot of training, but we are really excited about it! It is something I have wanted to do for a long time, so I am really excited to finally be following through.

But, enough about me… Here is this week’s fabulous Workout Wednesday!

Outfit Of The Day - Workout Wednesday

Top: Nike, $40; Leggings: Under Armour, $30; Shoes: Nike, $100; iPod: Apple, $106.

Does that make you want to get outside (or on the treadmill inside…) and run, or what?! I know for me, running is a stress relieve.  I use it to get away from things that may be bothering me or just to clear my head (almost) everyday.  The easiest way for me to do this, is to put my headphones in, turn up my “running” playlist, and just go.  How do you relieve stress? What is your favorite exercise/cardio workout? Let me know in the comments, I’d love new ideas for ways to get my daily cardio in!

Stay tuned for updates on me and my sister’s progress in training for our half marathon!

OOTD: Wallet Friendly Friday

Hello there, and happy Friday everyone! I hope you are all having a fabulous Friday so far, and you’re getting ready for the weekend! I know I most certainly am… I am coming home this weekend, and I cannot wait to see my family! Next week is my spring break (yeah, I know… I don’t get to go anywhere fun. What a bummer, right?!), and I am excited to just get to come home, spend time with my family, and relax a little bit! With graduation coming quickly, I have been stressing about jobs (applying, interviewing, actually getting one…) a lot lately, so I want to come home and take this week to just step away from it all and relax a little!

But, enough about me… This week’s Wallet Friendly Friday is super cute! It’s the perfect outfit for a night on the town, and with the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having lately, I figured it was the perfect way to kick off this Friday and get everyone excited and motivated for the fun activities that will occur this weekend.  So, here ya go ladies… Wallet Friendly Friday:

Outfit Of The Day - Wallet Friendly Friday

Top: Dorothy Perkins, $44; Pants: H&M, $33; Shoes: Forever 21, $33; Bag: Mango, $90, Bracelet: C. Wonder$58 $45; Earrings: Debenhams$15 $12.

Does that make you want to go out, or what? Getting dressed is always one of the hardest parts of going out for me (I just never know what to wear!), but when I finally figure it out or when I have an awesome outfit that I am excited to wear, I am always so pumped to hit the town with my friends! I don’t know if you are anything like me, in that regard, but this is definitely an outfit that would make me want to go downtown with the ladies for the evening!

I hope you all have a wonderful evening, and a great weekend! Do you have any awesome plans? What do you think of this outfit? Anything else? Let me know by commenting below!

So, I figured that I would have a little bit more of a summery Workout Wednesday outfit this week.  With brighter colors and fun summery clothes, what better way to get excited about upcoming spring that with fun outfits like this?! Outfit Of The Day - Workout Wednesday

But, if you are needing a little push in the right direction, then here it is… Get your pretty little butt to the gym or outside for a workout!
