OOTD: Trendy Tuesday And Thanksgiving Outfit Idea #2

With only two more work days (well one for some of you!) until Thanksgiving I figured what better way to do Trendy Tuesday than with an ensemble could actually double as Thanksgiving Outfit Idea #2! If your family goes more for the comfy but chic look for Thanksgiving dinner (like mine tends to do… We like to wear our outfit that is most comfy but still looks cute so that we can eat as much as we want without feeling too nasty!), then this outfit is perfect for you! It brings in some color, and why not brighten up the day!? As much as I love Thanksgiving, the colors that are typically associated are not exactly the most inviting… So switch things up, wear something like this fun mint this year!

OOTD: Trendy Tuesday

Good morning my lovely ladies! Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful Monday and your week started off on the right foot.  This week’s Trendy Tuesday is one of my personal favorites! I saw a girl on campus wearing a very similar outfit yesterday and I absolutely loved it! She was definitely my inspiration for this outfit.  The pants are just so fun and colorful, but they are also super fall-appropriate.  I am not a huge fan of red, so I never would have thought that these would be so cute, but I am definitely going to have to start looking for a pair of skinny jeans in this color!

Outfit Of The Day - Trendy Tuesday

Top:  Vero Moda Jasmine 3/4 Top – veromoda.com, $48

Pants:  Current/Elliot ‘The Ankle Skinny Jeans’ – mytheresa.com, $346

Forever 21 Sleek Curve Chain Cuff – forever21.com, $8.80

Earrings:  Fossil Gold-Tone Stone Stud Earrings (Wine) – macys.com, $28

See what I mean… I never would have imagined that I would love this color so much! And in pants… it can sometimes be a rather bold move wearing colored skinny jeans (they tend to show everything… absolutely no mystery there ladies!), but I just love these so much I am going to have to invest! I hope you all have a wonderful day today and that you stay warm.. it’s getting cold out there! Until tomorrow…

OOTD: Trendy Tuesday

Good Morning lovely ladies!

Happy Tuesday! This week’s Trendy Tuesday is the perfect fall outfit for this time of year.  With the weather getting progressively cooler, and the days getting shorter and shorter, I know being comfy is one of my main concerns when getting dressed in the morning (in addition to looking fashionable and cute, of course!).  This week’s Trendy Tuesday does exactly that.  With a super stylish (and amazingly comfy!) sweater from J. Crew and an awesome infinity scarf paired with your favorite boots, you are sure to steal the show with your outfit anywhere you go! And now, without further ado, here’s today’s outfit of the day

Outfit Of The Day - Trendy Tuesday Top: J. Crew Elbow-Patch Sweater – jcrew.com, $98

Pants: Koral Skinny Jeans 4 Month Blue Black – austique.co.uk, $290

Boots: Cole Haan Dover Riding Boot – colehaan.com, $448

Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 30 – louisvuitton.com, $845

Scarf: Leopard Print Infinity Scarf – dailylook.com, $20

Bracelets: Chain and Leather Bracelet Natural Soft Saddle – mulberry.com, $250

Humble Chic Pyramid Spikes – humblechic.com, $28

Marc by Marc Jacobs Turnlock Small Katie Bracelet – couture.zappos.com, $88

Earrings: Michael by Michael Kors Rose Gold Pyramid Stud Earrings – macys.com, $55

If that awesome little ensemble doesn’t say chic, comfy, and seasonable, then I don’t know what does! To be honest, this is actually one of my favorite types of outfits to wear, and I have been known to have multiple variations of the same general style! You just cannot go wrong with an oversized sweater, scarf, and boots! Paired with either your favorite jeans, or even with a pair of leggings, this outfit is most definitely a staple in everyone’s closet this winter!

I hope you ladies have an amazing day! In good old Harrisonburg, it is actually going to get up to about 65 degrees today! But don’t you worry… it was a whopping 33 degrees when my roommate and I left our house this morning (so naturally, we’ll go from Winter to Spring in just a few short hours!).  But, no matter where you may be, I hope you have nothing but good things going on today! Until tomorrow…

Wallet Friendly Friday Round 2…

Save vs. Splurge…

With sweater season arriving quickly, I have been doing a little bit of online shopping the past few days. I found this Marc Jacobs sweater and fell in love with it, but I knew that if I bought this $315 sweater my parents would kill me! So instead, I kept on going without adding that perfect cream sweater that every girl needs to my shopping cart (talk about self control…)!  But, then a few hours later (when I was avoiding studying for my exam again…), I found myself looking at a sweater that looked almost identical to this dream sweater I had previously found… The difference, you wonder? This new sweater I was looking at was from H&M and, at only $24, was a fraction of the price! This, I decided, is definitly something I can afford and also justify buying… The way I see it, big, warm, comfy sweaters are like a good pair of leggings, you can never have too many and the never go out of style!

Happy Friday ladies! I hope you have an awesome weekend and that you are able to find some amazing deals like the one I stumbled upon this week!

OOTD: Addicted To Accessories

I’m back! Sorry, I was a little MIA this week, especially yesterday, with midterms and just a TON of school work and things going on this week… But here I am, alive and well!

This week’s Addicted To Accessories Thursday is all about leopard print.  These super fun outfit additions can really be just the final touch you were looking for to tie your whole outfit together.  Adding any one, or combination, of these items to your simple and classic outfit will allow you to add some style to your look without taking away the classiness of the ensemble.

Take some risks with your accessories, add some flare to a super cute, classic outfit! What better look than any of these fabulous accessories (or multiple, if you so choose!) paired with a super sleek pair of jeans and a black top with either of these awesome pairs of shoes! Or if you’re in more of a boot mood, rock some black or congac leather boots, jeans, a black top, this awesome watch, scarf, and bracelet!

I hope you ladies have a wonderful day, and wear some amazing accessories today!

Its A Never Ending Cycle… Keep Your “Old” Clothes!

Seasonal Trends: A Never-Ending, Rotating Cycle…

“What’s trending this season?” and “What are the hottest looks these days?”

Those seem to be the questions we ask ourselves every few months as the seasons change and we get a new set of trends and styles that are “in” at that point in time.  When we are in the moment, many of us think these styles are completely new ideas that no one has ever thought of making or wearing before.  I find myself doing it more often than I would like to admit… But, if you look into the past, you will find that a vast majority (if not all) of the trending styles we are wearing today, are really just recycled trends from previous decades.  For example, take a look at some of the largest trends that I found for this season:

High Waisted Shorts/Pants

Returning Trend - High Waisted Shorts

Topshop Embellished High Waist Shorts, Nordstrom, $90

High-waisted pants and shorts are a huge thing this season! Everywhere I turn I feel like I see at least one person wearing these super cute and stylish bottoms.  An extremely popular style this season, but was it the first time we’ve seen this one? Not at all!  High-waisted shorts were an enormous trend in the 1970’s first!

Big, Chunky, Statement Jewelry

Repeating Trends - Chunky, Bold Jewelry

ABS by Allen Schwartz Jewelry Glass Bib Necklace, Saks Fifth Avenue, $250

Statement jewelry… Everyone has it, talks about, plans their outfit around it, etc.  It seems to be consuming our lives, and I cannot say I hate it!  I absolutely love the return of the big, bold, colorful jewelry.  Paired with a bright colored top, we have a massive trend from the 1980’s that has made a comeback.

Repeating Trend - Leggings

High Waist Aztec Print Leggings, Etsy, $25

One of my all time favorite trends to make it back into style… Leggings are another blast from the past that seems to be everywhere.  Returning after being ever popular in the 1990’s, there are so many ways to wear them. Leggings are the most popular with oversized sweaters, sweatshirts, and t-shirts, and mini dresses and skirts.

However, we wouldn’t stop at just plain old black leggings, would we?  Not a chance! This season, leggings are making an even bigger statement and are now being worn in various neon and pastel colors in addition to fun prints.

Chunky/Thick Heel

Repeating Trends - Thick/Chunky Heel

MICHAEL Michael Kors Heaven Suede Platform Pump, Neiman Marcus, $150

And now for the shoes… My weakness! This season’s hot chunky heel is far from a new style… popular amongst the ladies of disco in the 1970’s and then making their way back into style in the 1990’s, the idea of a thicker heel is far from original.

Repeating Trend - Denim

Starry ‘Bout That Sleeveless Shirt, LuLu’s, $41

While were on a roll with the 90’s, why not bring up the increasingly popular trend of denim.  Denim is all over the place this season.  From pants, to dresses, shirts, overalls, and jackets (just to name a few!), everywhere you turn there is denim on denim on denim!

As you can see, this season’s styles are far from new or original. So, if the past is any indication, next season’s probably won’t be either.  With that being said, why throw away, donate, recycle, or whatever you may choose to do with your “old” clothes, when you could just put them away in a safe place and pull them back out when they return again in a few years?!

Wallet Friendly Friday, Round 2…

Good, Better, Best… Getting The Look For Less!

Oh, hello again beautiful! How lucky are you guys, getting two Wallet Friendly Friday posts today?! So, this season the gold “feather” bangle bracelet is huge! I must say, I absolutely love this look, but what I do not love is the price tag that comes with some of these bracelets that I always seem to like the most! However, after searching for the perfect bracelet, I finally found one that has the same look as the top-of-the line, designer bracelet but has a price that is a mere fraction of it!  So, for our first “Good, Better, Best!” post, I give you the perfect gold feather bangle…

Outfit Of The Day - Wallet Friendly Friday, Getting The Look For Less

Good:  Joanna Dahdah Feather Palm Bracelet – boticca.com, $341

Better:  Monserat De Lucca Feather Bracelet – shopbop.com, $62

Which one did I get, you’re wondering?? …Neither of these! I got an even better deal:

Just SVARA Gold Feather Bangle - Only $15!

Evelina Bracelet from Just SVARA, $15

I found this super cute, trendy bangle at Just SVARA for a price of just $15!! What a steal! I absolutely love it… It has quickly become one of my go-to accessories, and I have gotten a ton of compliments every time I wear it anywhere!

There you have it ladies, you can get the designer option for $341, or you have the affordable option for just $15 that still gives you the same (okay, okay… well, similar) look but also leaves you with money left over to spend on more clothes, shoes, and jewelry!

I hope you enjoyed this and found it useful! Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas or suggestions for other items that you would like me to try and find a cheaper option for, also!  Have a wonderful Friday beauties!

XOXO, Kristen

NYFW: A’Detacher SS’14 Collection

Better Late Than Never… Right?

So, as I told you lovely ladies a few weeks ago (you know… right after it actually happened!), I had the privilege of  working New York Fashion Week with the PR firm that I interned with this summer! And being a dream of mine for so many years, it was absolutely amazing… I’m sure it is much more glamorous for the guests attending the shows (my life was a little stressful and very busy those few days!), but I had so much fun and I cannot wait to be able to do it again (hopefully, at least!).  So, the very first runway show I worked (the first event was a presentation – Sergio Davila – so unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any pictures) was A’Detacher.  A very fashion forward collection, designer Mona Kowalska included pronounced creases and flyaway zippers in many of her pieces, that added a lot of personality to the overall look.  They may sound really simple (and they are) and non-vital to the collection, but they really were an essential part of her line that made it stand out from many of the other collections we saw during the week, which were centered mainly around pastel tunics and sheer overlays.  Overall, I think her collection was very bold and different; and, while it has been called “scattered” by many (and I agree that some of it was a bit different that the norm for a SS collection), I think there is definitely a place in almost every woman’s closet for at least one of her pieces!

And now for the best part! Here are some of my pictures from the show:

They aren’t the best quality because all I had with me was my phone, but a girl I worked with (and an amazing friend!), Taylor, had an awesome camera with her, so when she puts her photos online, I will post some more (with much better quality…) for you beauties!

What did you guys think of her collection? I would love some other opinions!!

XOXO, Kristen
