Guest Post: Jenna Of Jenna Lee Ann

Good morning and happy Wednesday ladies! Today we have a super awesome and extremely gorgeous guest blogger… Jenna of Jenna Lee Ann.  Her blog is absolutely amazing, and like me, she is in her last year of college! With a super busy schedule and dreams of making it in the New York City fashion scene, I think she and I have a lot more in common that I ever thought! Her blog is hands down one of my new favorites, and I have recently added it to the list of blogs I read daily! Make sure you check it out… I know you’re going to love it as much as I do! But… anyway, without further ado, here she is ladies and gentlemen!

Jenna Lee Ann - Guest Blogger Series

Before we get into our Q&A, here is a little about Jenna and her blog…

Guest Blogger Series - Jenna Lee Ann

The absolutely stunning Jenna of Jenna Lee Ann.

My full name is Jenna LeeAnn D’Amico. That’s where I got the name for my blog, Jenna LeeAnn. I’m a small town girl waiting to move back to the city. I’m 21 years young with enough motivation for everyone. I’m going to school (last year, yay!) to get my bachelor’s degree in business management. I owned my own clothing line for a year and decided to wait and reopen it after I graduate. I like to have a busy schedule; people may think I’m crazy. I’m obsessed with my puppy, Oscar. I am a huge family girl. Anything fashion related is a passion of mine. I spend most of my time shopping, my Dad had to turn a separate room into my walk in closet when I was in high school and was able to start affording my own shopping trips (this is where I got in trouble). I am super personable and social, and love to answer peoples’ questions about entrepreneurship or fashion. I am very active on my Twitter @JennaLeeAnnLLC. Tweet me anytime!

Okay, so now for the translation of what that actually means…

1.     If you were on a tight budget and could only afford one of your favorite magazines (I know, I love them all too!), what would it be? What is your favorite section/part of that magazine?

  • I’m a Cosmopolitan girl. Something about this magazine just draws me straight to it when I’m in the aisle at the grocery store! I could read Cosmo forever. Vogue is a close second (I know this answer is cheating a little bit, sorry!). This may sound silly, but I love the pictures. And not because I hate reading, but because the pictures give me so much inspiration! I cut them out, and make an inspiration board to help me create new outfit ideas!

2.     If I were a shoe, I would be…

  • A Christian Louboutin Black Patent Pump for sure. It’s so timeless and goes with almost any style! I always say when I buy my first pair (no I do not own a pair…YET), I will put them on display and only wear them for special occasions such as an interview or fashion event! These shoes are like me, can work with any outfit. I feel like my style changes on how I feel when I wake up. Sometimes I just walk out of the house in a V-neck and jeans, other times I walk out of the house in a Moto jacket and my Seven for All Mankind skinnies with leather boots.

3.     My fashion crush (idol, inspiration, admirer, the list could go on forever…) is…

  • I have to stick with Lauren Conrad for this one. Because of her, I have gained so much motivation for pursuing my dream in the fashion industry. She has such a classy style, and a natural talent for everything fashion-related. Not to mention, she’s gorgeous. Her clothing line, her blog, and her jobs on The Hills, taught me a lot about style and how to work towards my dream career. Thanks, Lauren!

4.     If I were stranded on an island and could only have two make-up products, they would be…

  • Eyeliner and Bronzer.

My favorite eyeliner is the Maybelline Unstoppable waterproof black eyeliner. I have tried more than half of the eyeliners out there, and they ALWAYS run down my eyes and make me look like a raccoon! This eye liner has worked the best for me. So if you have a similar problem, give this product a try! Plus it’s only about $7 or 8$…bonus!

I don’t really have a favorite bronzer, I feel like I switch them up a lot. But I would definitely take bronzer with me because I have dark features, and who wants to be pale with black hair and brown eyes (Though some people can pull it off, just not this girl, trust me). Also, my skin is naturally pretty tan, but my face for some reason, my face does not want to get color. So without bronzer, my body is like a color block look…weird, I know.

5.     I keep my skin looking fabulous and flawless by… (what are your go-to products?!)

  • Olay Moisturizer (once a day)
  • Olay fresh effects makeup remover(at night, I only use it on my face, not my eyes)
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover oil-free (I only use this at night)

I don’t do much to my skin, I naturally have flawless skin(that’s probably my only flawless feature), so I don’t ever get acne or pimples. The reason I mentioned a couple makeup removers is because I feel that removing your makeup at night is key to a great look the next day. Of course everyone’s routine is different, that’s just mine! And moisturize daily! That’s how you will stay looking young, just ask Pharrell Williams! 😉

6.     I blog because… (Tell me when and why you started blogging, and then why you continued after you initially started!)

  • I started my blog when I started my first online clothing boutique. I had my boutique for a year, and once it started getting busier, I realized I didn’t have the amount of time to put all of my effort into it like I wish I could. I’m in school full time, as well as working two jobs full time. I realized that blogging has a flexible schedule, and gives me the chance to stay in the loop with fashion. I’ve had a lot of experience in the fashion industry already, so I love to share my stories and tips! Check out my post on how I made it into the industry and what I have accomplished! http://www.jennaleeann.com/2013/11/the-fashion-industry-my-story.html

7.     If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose…

  • New York City or Los Angeles! I lived in mid-town Manhattan for a few months, and I LOVED it. The only reason I would choose LA first is because of the weather. Growing up in New England, I’m used to the cold. However, I always get sick in the winter and I absolutely hate it! Also, since I have experienced NYC, I would love to experience California next. This way I can try something new. If you lived in or near LA, e-mail me on your opinion of it! I plan on moving there after graduation (I graduate the end of this year!).

8.     When I grow up I want to be… (If you could be absolutely anything, what is your dream/ideal career!?)

  • I hope to either move my way up in the business side of Michael Kors (I did my internship there), or own my own chain clothing store! I loved being a retail buyer for my own line! I mean let’s be honest, who wouldn’t love to shop for a living!? Haha.

9.     My favorite designer is…

  • Michael Kors 100%. The reason I choose him is not only because of his lovely talent for fashion, but when I interned there, he was there every step of the way, working hard to maintain number 1 in the fashion industry. I know a few other designers that are barely in the office, and are out and about vacationing (hey, nothing wrong with that, they have the money!), but seeing Michael Kors there almost every day working, made me gain a lot of respect for him and his passion for his clothing/accessory lines.

10.  My favorite quote is… Because… (What are your go-to words of wisdom from a fellow fashionista and why?)

“People will stare, make it worth their while.”-Harry Winston.

  • I love this quote because it bounces off the idea that every day is your runway. Always dress to impress, because you never know when you might run into someone important. You always want to make an impression if you’re trying to get your name out there, or especially if you’re trying to brand yourself as a person like I am doing. My favorite quote of all time (isn’t totally fashion related) but it’s “dreams don’t work unless you do”. I don’t really know who quoted that, but I live by that daily. When I wake up, and I have the day off, I think of that quote, and I get up and start researching on how to better myself as a fashionista, or how to better my blog. I can tell you, hard work DOES pay off.

11.  My rock is… (Who in your life inspires you and has helped you get where you are today?)

  • My Dad. Though he’s not with me anymore, he was the only person I can honestly say fully supported me. Though the rest of my family was always there to help me, my Dad was the only person who stood behind every decision I have made. No matter if he knew it wasn’t a good one, he knows that I need to learn on my own how to succeed. I couldn’t be more proud to have such a loving and supportive father, who was always there to help me follow my dreams. Every time I told an adult who knew my dad about my business and blog, they all had the same answer. “Looks like hard work runs in the family” or “I see you get the hard working genes from your father”. I couldn’t agree more. Having two parents who were/and still are some of the most hardworking people I know, and that has definitely helped me get where I am right now.

12.  With the abundance of free time I have (don’t we all wish this was the case!), I like to…

  • Research everything about entrepreneurship
  • Play with my puppy, Oscar
  • Shop, shop, and shop
  • Did I mention shop?

Guest Post: Taylor Of Taylored Designs704

Good morning and Happy Wednesday beauties! Today we have a special blogger for our guest post… The beautiful Taylor of Taylored Designs704! She is a stunning southern belle, born and raised in North Carolina, with a darling blog and website where she posts super great content regularly along with selling her original jewelry that she makes by herself! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs and I am looking forward to ordering some of the many things currently in my cart on her site! But, without further ado… here she is ladies and gentlemen!

Before we get into the Q&A, here is a little more about Taylor and her blog!

Taylor of Taylored Designs 704

The absolutely gorgeous Taylor of Taylored Designs704

My name is Taylor Davis.  I am a North Carolina girl, born and raised.  A true southern belle, avid sports fan, love the Lord & passionate about beading.  I love to get creative with beautiful clothes, jewelry & accessories.  I am self-taught, having learned many different jewelry-making techniques over the years. I’ve created a style that’s all my own: classic, yet effortless, natural, yet edgy, bold with color and dabbled with sparkle.  I began creating jewelry in 2005, then a sophomore in high school for juniors and seniors going to prom. I started blogging in 2013 to express my interest in fashion and to showcase my jewelry designs. I was skeptical at first but truly have a passion for combining my love of sports with fashion and my jewelry line through this medium.

Okay, so now for the translation of what that actually means…

1.     If you were on a tight budget and could only afford one of your favorite magazines (I know, I love them all too!), what would it be? What is your favorites section/part of that magazine?

Lucky all day long! I love Lucky because I LOVE shopping. When I flip through the pages of a fresh Lucky Mag it’s a guilt free shopping spree. I just get lost in the pages and the endless style possibilities. I also love the feature they do on a super stylish celeb. My favorite issue was the Blake Lively, (explained more in question 3).

2.     If I were a shoe, I would be…

  • A Valentino Rockstud Strapped Heel. A nude heel is a classic and a wardrobe staple that I take everywhere. This shoe takes that to the next level and gives it a fashion forward edge. I love Valentino and would kill to have this shoe in every color (in both the heel and the flat), but the nude heel is all me.

3.     My fashion crush (idol, inspiration, admirer, the list could go on forever…) is…

  • Blake Lively.  She is my fashion crush because she has a true sense of style that is all her own. She is comfortable and confident in who she is and is always impeccably put together. When I feel stumped or am having one of those days when the fashion creativity just isn’t flowing, I browse some of my favorite fashion pins on pinterest and they are flooded with Blake’s red carpet and day-to-day style. The creativity immediately starts flowing.

4.     If I were stranded on an island and could only have two make-up products, they would be…

  • Mascara and Lip Balm:
    • MAC Mascara – I have to say I am pretty much a MAC snob when it comes to my beauty bag. Those little black containers fill my daily bag, my back up bag, and my empty bag that needs to be recycled for my free lipstick. I would honestly take any of their mascaras. I rotate 4-5 different ones and truly love them all.
    • Eos Lip Balm in Sweet Mint –My friends have been using it for years but I finally took the plunge when my fiance’s mom put that sweet little ball in my stocking this past Christmas. The flavor is subtle but sweet, and the balm stays on for hours at a time. It isn’t like other lip balms where I feel like I am constantly applying and applying.

I do not leave the house without the mascara on my eyes (I always say I look dead without it) and the eos in my bag.

5.     I keep my skin looking fabulous and flawless by… (what are your go-to products?!)

  • Clarisonic Mia 2 & Clarifying Gel
  • Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser
  • Olay shimmer moisturizing lotion (the shimmer gives my skin an extra glow)

6.     I blog because… (Tell me when and why you started blogging, and then why you continued after you initially started!)

I started blogging to promote my jewelry line. I wanted a creative way to style my jewelry and share it with the world. Now that I am into it, I find myself more interested in the fashion side than the promoting side. I still create and style my pieces into my outfits but it is an equal, 2 sided passion now. I am constantly inspired by other bloggers and aspire for my blog to be on higher levels.

7.     If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose…

Wilmington, NC- I love the beach and everything to do with it. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and just bought a house of my own. I cannot ever imagine living in another state but would gladly move to the beach. Wilmington is historic, yet full of life. It is my happy place and one day (hopefully) my home.

8.     When I grow up I want to be… (If you could be absolutely anything, what is your dream/ideal career!?)

  • A well-known accessories designer. I love designing and creating fabulous jewelry. It is the one thing I do that doesn’t seem like work. I am 100% self-taught and love finding new and inspiring things. If I was nothing other than a bead store/ boutique owner in Wilmington and a local celebrity there, my work would be known and I would be happy to wake up every day at the beach doing what I love.

9.     My favorite designer is…

  • Oscar de La Renta & Chanel- They constantly catch my attention. I love the details on every garment. Chanel for the ladylike femininity and ODLR for the bold way they set the pace for the industry. The day my wardrobe holds a piece from either of these two designers will be the best day!

10.  My favorite quote is… Because… (What are your go-to words of wisdom from a fellow fashionista and why?)

  • “The best color in the world is the one that looks best on you.” –Coco Chanel

I love this quote because it inspires a sense of independence and confidence in me. Being so into fashion, I am surrounded by beautiful clothes, accessories, and women. It is easy to get carried away with following certain trends and styles and sometimes it is easy to forget to be you. This quote reminds me that just because it looks good on someone else doesn’t mean it is for me. I have to stay true to me and my favorite colors.

11.  My rock is… (Who in your life inspires you and has helped you get where you are today?)

  • My fiancé Wes. He is my biggest fan and every day encourager. I work a full time job, own my own jewelry business, blog, and work in pro sports. I have my hand in several pots and it is an understatement to say that takes up a lot of my time. No matter what I have going on, he always encourages me to follow my dreams and to work hard for whatever I want. He is my strength when I run out and my congratulations when I have a big day. I can honestly say he makes me a better person. I am more patient, loving, and understanding because I have him in my life.

12.  With the abundance of free time I have (don’t we all wish this was the case!), I like to…

  • Make Jewelry: Necklaces are my favorite and my ultimate creative expression. My bangles and tassel key chains are my most popular items.
  • Workout/Go Running
  • Get my nails done (I love nail polish and often try to do it myself, but let’s face it, they are just better)
  • Watch my shows. I have several and am completely addicted to all. (Scandal, Castle, The Mentalist, Pretty Little Liars, Downton Abbey, The Carrie Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy, Nashville, and others I’m sure I left out)

XOXO, Taylor

Okay ladies, what did I tell you… Is she amazing or what?! Well, don’t forget to check out her blog and keep an eye out for my post that is being featured today all about my favorite beauty products and my daily make-up regimen! I hope y’all have a fabulous Wednesday… Keep pushing through, we’re halfway there!

Guest Post: Anna Of Little Pretty Mess

Hello ladies! Happy New Year! We have a special guest post for this holiday afternoon! Today, I am so excited to feature the stunning Anna of Little Pretty Mess.  Her blog is amazing, and I know you are all going to love it just as much as I do.  Without further ado, here is Anna of Little Pretty Mess

Before we get into the Q&A, here is a little more about Anna and her blog!

Anna Of Little Pretty Mess

The stunning Anna of Little Pretty Mess

Hey there! I’m Anna, 21 year old redhead, lover of all things pretty, a British accent loving Anglophile hoping to move to London this year, coffee addict and a researcher in an international company by day. I blog over at Little Pretty Mess, come visit me at: http://serendipityhappening.blogspot.com/! ♥

Guest Blogger Post - Anna Of Little Pretty Mess That actually means…

1.     If you were on a tight budget and could only afford one of your favorite magazines (I know, I love them all too!), what would it be? What is your favourite section/part of that magazine?

My favourite magazine is Glamour, I like that it’s not only about pictures (unlike some magazines) but it’s actually a good read – I really like their lifestyle articles, a good journalism.

 2.  If I were a shoe, I would be

Christian Louboutin’s iconic black leather heel!

3.     My fashion crush (idol, inspiration, admirer, the list could go on forever…) is…

Stella McCartney, my favourite designer. She worked hard to establish her brand and she’s never been just a celebrity’s daughter. She doesn’t use fur or leather in her products as she is a vegetarian which makes me love her even more. And she’s English and I’m an Anglophile 😉 I love her collections for ladies for their simplicity and modern design, at the same time they are very feminine (pastel pink, floral prints).

 4.     If I were stranded on an island and could only have two make-up products, they would be…

Maybelline New York Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer (one of the best concealers I have ever used, have it always with me) and EOS lip balm (I looove EOS lip balms, not only does it make my lips soo smooth but it also comes in the cutest package!).

 5.     I keep my skin looking fabulous and flawless by… (what are your go-to products?!)

This one is very simple – coconut oil. Once I have started using it as my night cream I have chucked all these creams/balms I have been using for so long. It really works wonders – my skin is simply glowing! Now I use it as my night and under eye cream, body balm and hair conditioner. All in one! Amazing, isn’t it?

6.     I blog because… (Tell me when and why you started blogging, and then why you continued after you initially started!)

I have been just a blog reader for months, then I thought ‘why not try myself?’ So that’s how it started and it’s become my new hobby. Although it’s hard to work full-time, study AND blog, I’m doing my best 😉

 7.     If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose…

London, I love this multicultural, lively city that never sleeps.  And I’m going to move there soon, so excited! Always wanted to live there, my dream will come true.

8.     When I grow up I want to be… (If you could be absolutely anything, what is your dream/ideal career!?)

I am still figuring out what I really want to do and trying new things. I think it would be something art / design and travel related, something for my wanderlusting, artistic soul.

9.     My favorite designer is…

Stella McCartney! She’s also my fashion crush as I’ve previously mentioned.

10.  My favorite quote is… Because… (What are your go-to words of wisdom from a fellow fashionista and why?)

“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” — Gianni Versace

This is exactly what I think, don’t be a fashion slave but create your own style. Why would you want to pretend someone you are not?

11.  My rock is… (Who in your life inspires you and has helped you get where you are today?)

My boyfriend. During (almost) 3 years we’ve spent together he always supported me in everything I came up with (and I get many different ideas haha), made me feel confident even during my worst days, in fact it was much easier to go through difficult times when he was there for me. He also inspired me to apply to one of the best UK universities as he holds a degree from one of the best universities of the world (you can tell how proud I am of him!). He really cares about his family and this makes me respect him even more. He listens to me patiently, I can tell him everything and I love that I can be this open and comfortable with someone. Oh and he’s the hottest guy I know, I am definitely going to keep him myself always 😉

 12.  With the abundance of free time I have (don’t we all wish this was the case!), I like to…

Travel – I would spend years travelling the world if I could. I don’t feel good when I am too long in one place, I once moved to Spain for a couple of months and fell in love with this country! I also like to read, watch my favourite TV series (Friends, White Collar, Castle…), dance, hang out with friends.

See guys, how awesome is she!? Make sure you check our her blog, I promise you’ll be glad you did!

I hope you all have a great day! Start thinking about your resolutions… It’s about that time if you don’t have one yet! Stay tuned for more about my resolutions this year!

A Holiday Gift Guide From Susan of Susan Mahlburg

Hello There Lovelies!

With only five days (and four shopping days!) left until Christmas we have yet another fabulous Holiday Gift Guide from guest blogger Susan Fisher of Susan Mahlburg! After a phenomenal guest post a few weeks back, I was thrilled when I learned she was going to do a gift guide for us as well! Just a fantastic as before (maybe even more!), and stunning as ever, she has provided us with a little holiday help that did nothing but exceed any expectations I could have possibly had! So, without further ado, here is a Holiday Gift Guide from the lovely Susan of Susan Mahlburg!

A Holiday Gift Guide From Susan Of Susan Mahlburg

So what that actually means is…

1. I think the best shoes of the season are….

Kate Spade Glitter KedsI recently featured them on the blog and think it’s an easy way for even the most on-the-go ladies to add some sparkle to their steps during the holiday season.  It matches the Charm Heel, which is a KS cult favorite.

2. My favorite 2013 Holiday Gift Set is…

Nars Guy Bourdin Crime of Passion Kit.  Nars does such great collaborations, especially over the holidays (last year it was Andy Warhol).  And when they say Limited Edition, they really mean it.  Anyone would love to get Nars as a gift – they have this magical way of making sure any of their shades work with absolutely any skin tone.  It’s uncanny.  And not only is their product top-quality, the packaging is, too.

3. The hottest electronic device/gadget this year is…

The no!no! Hair Removal Gadget.  I always shied away from these things, but the more I hear about them, I just might buy one for myself.  How many times do you try to make a waxing appointment, only to find out they’re booked?  In Virginia, all the time.  Beggars can’t be choosers, so take matters into your own hands.

4. I am dying to make this gift for someone…

I am actually a huge fan of putting together gift baskets.  You can go several ways with this.  Option 1: a compilation of a bunch of favorite things.  Let’s be real: stores do cute things in miniature sizes this time of year, so why not do a bunch of things?  Option 2: the ‘event’ basket – you know the one, it’s themed for a particular activity.  She likes crafts?  Knit her a scarf but include it with a bunch of yarn, etc so she can knit her own.  She likes baking?  Bake her some cookies, but then compile all of the ingredients she would need to make another great recipe and display it in a cute Mason jar you’ve glitzed up for her.

5. Three things on my Christmas list this year are…

1) Saint-Laurent Metalic Leather Biker Jacket

2) Zac Posen Eartha Extreme Soft Top Handle

3) Prada Acetate Baroque Gradiant Sunglasses

XOXO, Susan

See, is she amazing or what?! Not that I had to tell you, because you have already seen how great she is from her guest post! But, if you haven’t already done so, please check out here blog here! It’s just as fantastic as she is… I promise you won’t regret it! It is quickly becoming one of my favorite fashion blogs to read everyday! Her style is absolutely amazing and I hope one day I am as awesome as she is! (Plus, only living about 45 minutes away from JMU, she my neighbor! How cool is that?!)

I hope you guys have a wonderful day and don’t forget to check out her blog if you haven’t already done so today!

Guest Post: Michele Of Style On The Vine

Good Morning Beauties!

It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means… it’s time for another guest post from another amazing guest blogger! This week I am so excited to welcome back Michele of Style on the Vine.  After participating in our Holiday Gift Guide Series with a fabulous guest post, I was more than excited when I learned that she wanted to be featured with a guest post as well! Not only is her blog, Style on the Vine, amazing, but her style is fabulous also! And then, in addition to all of that, she is absolutely stunning! So, without further ado, here is Michele of Style on the Vine!

Before we get into the Q&A, here is a little more about Michele and her blog

Michele Of Style On The Vine

Michele, the gorgeous face behind the fabulous blog, Style On The Vine!

I started my blog while I was in college as a side project for my design portfolio. Style On The Vine has since transformed into my personal voice in an area thriving with culinary culture but quiet with fashionable styl perspective. As a blogger I’ve been networking with others in our various blogging communities. I love collaborating, creating and styling with my fellow bloggers, friends and/or designers. I knew I wanted to be involved with the fashion world after one read of my now favorite magazine NYLON while I was at the airport. The overall concept of the magazine entranced me and let me to soul search for what I was really aiming for in my life. I have never looked back…although my NYLON collection has become fairly hefty. My passion for fashion derives from a pure love of fashion editorial shoots. They capture a moment, create a character and tell a story with only a few carefully crafted photographs. I see fashion as an extension of one’s personality and I like to believe that Style On The Vine encapsulates mine.  For more about me and my blog, visit me here!

Guest Blogger Series - Michele Of Style On The Vine

And now for a translation of what that actually means…

1.     If you were on a tight budget and could only afford one of your favorite magazines (I know, I love them all too!), what would it be? What is your favorites section/part of that magazine?

NYLON Magazine out of New York is why I got into fashion. Something about the layout, the bold editorials and the blend of music into fashion grabbed me. I have collected every issue since! I remember scrounging up leftover change while I was in college to get my subscription renewed one year! Now that’s devotion if I do say so myself.

2.     If I were a shoe, I would be…

  • A high heeled ankle bootie in black leather. Its edgy yet chic and delicate like myself.

3.     My fashion crush (idol, inspiration, admirer, the list could go on forever…) is…

I have so so so many people I admire for their style, Gwen Stefani, Audrey Hepburn, Zoe Saldana and so on but I truly love Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine. She mixes vintage gowns and modern pieces like its nothing. She has her own niche style voice which I respect and admire. She can look glamorous and illusive while stile remaining approachable. I am just in love with her1

4.     If I were stranded on an island and could only have two make-up products, they would be…

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Smolder & Smashbox Photo-finish BB Cream

5.     I keep my skin looking fabulous and flawless by… (what are your go-to products?!)

  • Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate and moisturize!
  • I use a retinol restoring night cream by Mary Kay + matching under-eye cream every night

6.     I blog because… (Tell me when and why you started blogging, and then why you continued after you initially started!)

I blog as a way to stay in touch with the fashion community and its followers. I love expressing my point of view through style and experiencing others by connecting with them through networking sites.

7.     If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose…

London, UK. I have never been there before but I am entranced by its misty ways. I tend to love the gloomy days, wet streets and mod British style. I feel like I would fit in well with its surroundings and people

8.     When I grow up I want to be… (If you could be absolutely anything, what is your dream/ideal career!?)

  • A trend forecaster and magazine contributor for NYLON Magazine in NY. I really want to work for a magazine!!

9.     My favorite designer is…

  • I have a billion but Marc Jacobs has done so much for not only his own branding but for the Louis Vuitton creative direction as well. He wears so many hats but always looks fierce!

10.  My favorite quote is… Because… (What are your go-to words of wisdom from a fellow fashionista and why?)

“Why change? Everyone has his own style. When you have found it, you should stick to it.”-Audrey Hepburn

11.  My rock is… (Who in your life inspires you and has helped you get where you are today?)

  • My mom is my rock. She supports me unconditionally through everything. She was there when I changed schools to go to fashion school. She has been with me through everything and I could not have done it without her.

12.  With the abundance of free time I have (don’t we all wish this was the case!), I like to…

Guest Post: Isabel Of ‘Classic And Crippled’

Hello my beauty queens! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all have a wonderful day and that you’re staying warm while you get ready for Christmas (who’s excited?! I know I am…)!  It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means… It’s time for our Guest Blogger of the week! This week we have a very special and extremely inspiration blogger named Isabel.  She is gorgeous face behind the blog ‘Classic and Crippled‘ where she blogs about fashion and make-up for all women with a post or two every week that is dedicated to being fashionable while having a disability.  She is one of the most amazing people I have ever met, and she truly inspires me to be a better person.  So, without further ado, here is the absolutely amazing Isabel of ‘Classic and Crippled‘…

Before we get into our Q&A, here is a little more about Isabel and her blog:

Isabel of 'Classic and Crippled'

The Gorgeous Isabel of ‘Classic and Crippled

Howdy! I am Isabel, the author of Classic and Crippled! I am a 16-year-old high school Junior. I am obsessed with Audrey Hepburn, pink and country music. I also absolutely love my dogs Midge (Boston Terrier and Black Lab mix) and Dixie (Jack Russell, Yorkie, Corgi and Westie mix). I also have a condition called Ehlers-Danlos that affects my connective tissue. Thanks Kristen for giving me this feature opportunity!

Guest Blogger - Isabel Of 'Classic And Crippled'

And now for a translation of what that means…

1.     If you were on a tight budget and could only afford one of your favorite magazines (I know, I love them all too!), what would it be? What is your favorites section/part of that magazine?

Hmmm, that’s so hard!! But if I could only buy one magazine, it would be Vogue (hands down). In my opinion, Vogue is the epitome of a high fashion magazine. Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington fill all of the glossy pages with articles and photos that are not only fashionable but are pieces of art as well. Vogue completely redefined the magazine and fashion industry, and for people looking to go into that industry, it’s full of hope, goals and inspiration.

2.     If I were a shoe, I would be…

Manolo Blahnik’s ‘Hangisi’ Jeweled Pump aka Carrie Bradshaw’s signature shoe. This shoe is literally the most glamorous thing I have ever seen. Every time I walk through a store that carries (get it?) these, I stop, stare and drool! I have sat and looked at them for at least 20 minutes a couple of times! The first time I saw these in person, I was in Nordstrom, and then I walked over and proceeded to start hallelujah opera singing… Lets just say I was asked to stop singing or leave!

3.     My fashion crush (idol, inspiration, admirer, the list could go on forever…) is…

My fashion idol title is tied between Audrey Hepburn and Olivia Palermo. Both of these lovely ladies keep their style classic, minimal and conservative. All of these style traits are very prevalent in my wardrobe and personality. What seems like their style rules are very similar to mine, which is good because I can draw inspiration but still add my twist. I would have to say my biggest style rules are, keep it simple and keep it conservative.

4.     If I were stranded on an island and could only have two make-up products, they would be…

Mascara and Sunscreen!

My Maybelline New York Volum’ Express Falsies Mascara is my number one mascara, and its under $10! This mascara makes my eyelashes look full, dark (I have blonde eyelashes) and long! If I only have time to use one makeup product, mascara would be it! Secondly, I would bring sunscreen because the only thing worse than being stranded, would be getting a sunburn. I have extremely fair skin that tans, but if you are stuck for days and days, anyone would get a sunburn. And a sunburn without cream or aloe would be a nightmare!

5.     I keep my skin looking fabulous and flawless by… (what are your go-to products?!)

  • Bliss ‘Triple Oxygen’ Instant Energizing Cleansing Foam ($28)
  • Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief ($30)
  • Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub ($6)

6.     I blog because… (Tell me when and why you started blogging, and then why you continued after you initially started!)

  • Read all about this here.

I have been searching the web for fashion blogs directed towards ladies with disabilities, and I found NONE! Having a disability myself, I started to think, Maybe I should start one. I have a genetic connective (ligament) tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos. Because of this, I have had many major operations, braces (back, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, neck, knee etc.), walkers, wheelchairs and many other annoyances. With all of these, I have had a hard time keeping my style and actually being able to put an ensemble together or even being able to dress myself. Because of this disorder, I have experience dressing well while being handicapped. My goal for this blog is to reach girls that are struggling, and help then become more confident in their clothes and overall, be able to express themselves the way they want!

7.     If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose…

Seattle, Washington.

I absolutely love Seattle because of the beautiful buildings, overall vibe of the city and climate. Yes, I know that it rains a lot! I actually love the rain because it reminds me how fortunate we are to even have rain. In many parts of the world, rain is a luxury and here in parts of the US, people complain about it and take it for granted. I also love the rain because I wear bright colors and it lights up the gray!

8.     When I grow up I want to be… (If you could be absolutely anything, what is your dream/ideal career!?)

If I could do anything as a job, I would work in fashion journalism and work my way up to creative director of Vogue. It would be so fun and interesting to be in charge of all thing art and creative at any fashion magazine. While watching “The September Issue”, a documentary about the making of an issue of Vogue, I saw the job of creative director (currently filled by Grace Coddington) and said to myself, I NEED to do that!! Ever since, I’ve been obsessed.

9.     My favorite designer is…

Alice and Olivia or Kate Spade are my all time favorite designers. Partly because these brands are literally me but in material form. Both of these brands are filled with lovely prints, happy colors and classic prints. It brightens my day just looking at these designs!

10.  My favorite quote is… Because… (What are your go-to words of wisdom from a fellow fashionista and why?)

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” – Audrey Hepburn

This quote is definitely a quote to live by. In fact, every Audrey Hepburn quote is lovely, smart and passionate about life.

11.  My rock is… (Who in your life inspires you and has helped you get where you are today?)

My younger sister, Maria. Maria is 11 years old, she is always so happy and is my biggest fan. Through all of my medical complications she has always been there cheering me on. We are literally the definition of Yin and Yang, I love her so much!

12.  With the abundance of free time I have (don’t we all wish this was the case!), I like to…

  • I don’t like this, but I  have a lot of doctors appointments
  • Watch Scandal (ABC)
  • Listen to and obsess over country music
  • Online shop!
  • Swimming (competitive and non-competitive)

So was I right or what?! Pretty amazing, huh? I know, I know… I hate to say it, but I seem to always be right about these things, huh?! (Hehe, just kidding! …I am all about tooting my own horn lately, huh ladies!?) But, if you loved her as much as I did (I’m sure you did… What’s not to love?!) then show this phenomenal girl a little love and check out her blog! I hope y’all enjoyed hearing a little bit about her and her life/blog as much as I did!

Holiday Gift Guide Guest Blogger - Michele Of Style On The Vine

So, what that actually means is…

1.     I think the best shoes of the season are….

Well if you can afford them, a pair of Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots. It’s the anniversary year for the brand as well so they have special edition boots too!

2.     My favorite 2013 Holiday Gift Set is…

Butter of London 3 Days of Fashion Week set. They are great neutrals and the lacquer is rich & luxurious.

3.     The hottest electronic device/gadget this year is…

Microsoft Surface Tablet. My boyfriend got one last year for Christmas and I am obsessed! It’s like having an iPad & a laptop all in one. I can blog right on it and link to all my social networks! Plus its half the price of an iPad with twice the capability.

4.     I am dying to make this gift for someone….

Well this year I am actually making almost ALL my gifts but the common stocking stuffer gift I am making is coffee cup sleeves. They reduce garbage and can stay in your purse to reuse during your Starbuck’s run!

5.     Three things on my Christmas list this year are…

  • Chanel quilted chain bag
  • Burberry Prorsum red coated trnch coat
  • Christian Louboutain heeled booties

I can ALWAYS dream riiight?

XOXO, Michele

Is she amazing or what?! I know, I know, Kristen’s right again… shocking, huh?! Hehe :)

Keep an eye out for more from Michele in our Guest Blogger Series, trust me, you’ll love her even more after that one! But, in the mean time, check out her blog and learn more about her here! And don’t forget, keep your eyes open for another Holiday Gift Guide guest post coming soon!

Guest Post: Susan Of Susan Mahlburg

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means… time for another guest post from an especially amazing guest blogger! Today, we have Susan of Susan Mahlburg, and let me tell you girls, she’s awesome! She is absolutely gorgeous and was such a pleasure to work with! Not only is her blog amazing and her style chic and fashionable, she is completely stunning! Being from Charlottesville, Virginia, she is my neighbor (only about 45 minutes or so away from JMU!).  I absolutely adore her blog and it has quickly become one of my favorite daily fashion diaries! Check out her blog here, I know you are all going to love it as much as I do.

But, before we get into out Q&A with Susan, here is a little more about her and her blog

My blog is www.susanmahlburg.com – It’s a simple reflection of my everyday life, with day-to-day snapshots of my outfits, and little blurbs about what inspired them, or maybe something else going on in my life that day.  I’ve considered branching out to lifestyle and beauty topics, but I want to feel secure in my niche first.  I think it’s important that your blog have a voice and a personality of its own.

Guest Blogger Series - Susan Fisher Of Susan Mahlburg

Now, for a translation of what that means…

1. If you were on a tight budget and could only afford one of your favorite magazines (I know, I love them all too!), what would it be? What is your favorites section/part of that magazine?

  • I absolutely adore Vogue.  (So much so that I did a recent post on a Vogue sweatshirt that I have & my coffee table book is from Vogue).  I know a lot of women in their 20s shy away from the magazine, because it’s very decadent and they feel like they can’t relate.  But that’s the beauty of fashion – to look at the artistic representation, the absurdity, the lavishness of the industry, and then translate it into something that is very unique to yourself.  A little secret: Vogue also has great book reviews.  It’s more than just a shopping outlet.

2. If I were a shoe, I would be…

  • A Jimmy Choo in a bright color – like yellow.  Jimmy’s are classic and reliable and don’t let you down.  I strive to be that rock, in both my personal relationships and also my business endeavors.  But I have a little spunk about me, and like pops of color and the unexpected.  I think shoes are the easiest way to change up your wardrobe, and probably one of the best investments you’ll make as you work on doing so.

3. My fashion crush (idol, inspiration, admirer, the list could go on forever…) is…

  • Zac Posen.  He’s such a young designer, but everything he does is a nod to traditional beauty – from draping, to silk fabrics, to using florals in order to accentuate femininity.  And somehow he does all this while still remaining edgy and modern.  Today’s fashion doesn’t have to be about black and sharp lines, and Zac Posen knows this and stays true to himself and his label.  And I love that he’s so relatable – he’s very real on his social media channels (like Instagram), allowing you to really see who he is as a person, away from runway shows and awards and fancy dinners.

4. If I were stranded on an island and could only have two make-up products, they would be…

  • Dior Lip Gloss – to keep the chap at bay, but also because they do such a great job boosting collagen and keeping the skin firm.  It’s like magic in a tube.  And Nars blush – in pretty much any shade, but Orgasm is a cult classic.  I’ve been using Super Orgasm lately; it’s like Orgasm, but a little more vibrant, with flecks of gold in the powder.  I firmly believe you can swipe on some Nars blush without even wearing foundation, and look like a million bucks.

5. I keep my skin looking fabulous and flawless by… (what are your go-to products?!)

  • Philosophy Purity Made Simple.  When I was younger, I used to ascribe to the standard routine of acne-fighting agents and Neutrogena this and that, and exfoliating beads in everything.  But I was turned onto Purity a few years ago, and it is amazing.  Not only does it gently clear your face and your pores, your skin is super soft, and you’re not introducing any harsh chemicals to your routine.  It’s worth it.  Even my husband uses it now.

6. I blog because… (Tell me when and why you started blogging, and then why you continued after you initially started!)

  • I actually began blogging in October – so I’m very new to the blogging world!  I was at PoshFest, a conference for the fashion app, and everyone I met encouraged me to start my own blog.  So I came back and did!  There’s a lot of great angles to take with blogs these days, but I decided to just go the simple route, and express something that was uniquely me – so my blog is more like an everyday style diary.  I generally give a short intro into what I’m wearing, then snap some photos at lunch, and link up to the products in case anyone thought they’d like to incorporate something into their look.  I’ve had some great positive response in this first month, and it’s become a nice outlet in the middle of my days.  You’re going to put clothes on each and every day, so why not dive in?

7. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose…

  • France.  Proximity to Paris would be nice, to be a part of the fashion world there and the culture and arts.  But I love the French countryside.  I took a roadtrip through France this summer – for two weeks – and it’s amazing to see the simple way of life (entire villages without cars, without running water) and explore castles, and picnic in fields of poppies.  It’s no wonder so many great Impressionist painters came from that area.  You feel like you’re care-free and can really enjoy life and love and beauty.

8. When I grow up I want to be… (If you could be absolutely anything, what is your dream/ideal career!?)

  • I would love to be an Editor for a magazine – I mean, a girl can dream, right?  I was an English major in college, then I lived in New York for a year and worked for a jewelry designer, and then I returned to Virginia and now work for a math/science company.  I miss the part of me that I left in New York, and how fleeting that part of my life was, because I recognize how much it changed who I am as a person and the things I view as important.  I think all 20-somethings should explore multiple career paths, because you never know what might be out there for you.

9. My favorite designer is…

  • So I mentioned Zac Posen as a fashion idol, but for me personally, I love to wear clothes from a variety of designers.  I think you can really appreciate the differences in their aesthetics, and start to notice what makes one label stand out from another.  I did a post on Nanette Lepore a few weeks ago and would love to go to one of her shows.  Her style is so quirky – feminine, yet unexpected.  I also love finding clothes from up-and-coming designers, like Kara Janx, Christian Siriano, Graham and Spencer.

11. My rock is… (Who in your life inspires you and has helped you get where you are today?)

  • My husband is truly amazing.  Ladies, if you find a man who appreciates your love of fashion, marry him.  Seriously.  But in addition to his positive reaction to my hobbies, he’s such a great father, and truly exudes such love and compassion for his family.  I know everyone says you can’t have it all, and life is full of tough decisions, but I feel like with him I can have it all.

12. With the abundance of free time I have (don’t we all wish this was the case!), I like to…

  • I actually play volleyball, or variations like wallyball, at least twice a week.  I think it’s good to have a physical outlet to let out your frustration and stress.  And athletic wear is becoming much trendier; any excuse to drop by Lululemon, right?

What did I tell ya ladies… Is she great or what?! I only wish I was as great as she is… Not only does she have a phenomenal life now (with what seems like an absolutely amazing husband…), but she got to live my dream for a year of living in New York City! Words cannot even describe the jealousy I have for her! But, seriously guys… Check out her blog! It’s awesome and I know you are going to fall in love right away, just like I did!

Also, check out her blog for a post that features me!
