Outfit Of The Day

Hello and happy Monday, gorgeous! I hope you are surviving this muggy and humid heat wave and you had an amazing weekend! Even though the weekend just ended and, if you’re feeling the same way I am, you’re not quite ready to be back at work just yet, I thought I would still share a super chic outfit that is perfect for a summertime night on the town! So, although it is only Monday, hopefully this will give you a little something to get ready for, and excited about, next weekend!

Outfit Of The Day - Not Your Daughter's Jeans, OOTD

Top: Rebecca Taylor, $195; Jeans: NYDJ, $200; Shoes: Saint Laurent, $790; Clutch: Valentino, $1,190; Watch: Movado, $995; Bracelet: BERRICLE, $85; Earrings: kate spade new york, $38.

Is that outfit awesome, or what?! I don’t know about you ladies, but personally I’m a huge fan of white jeans. Since we can only wear them a few months out of the year, I try to get the most out of them during that little time period as possible! This pair of super skinny jeans (and not to mention slimming), from NYDJ, is super comfortable and look amazing on everyone I’ve seen rock them!

Personally, I am usually more of a jegging (jean legging) type of girl myself, but these have that same feel without making me feel like I am cheating the system (…I tend to live in leggings in the winter, so I always consider it a win when I actually put on “real” pants!). So basically, what I am trying to say is that I have recently discovered NYDJ, and they have absolutely amazing jeans for women. Plus, they’re super affordable, so that’s another bonus!

One of the many ways I like to wear white jeans is with a bright colored, fun top (like the one above), and simple/classic accessories. It really draws attention to the top and makes for a super classy, yet stylish and chic, look. I am typically a fan of different shades of blue, green, and teal/turquoise, because I feel like it makes my blue eyes stand out (although I’m not sure it actually does, I think that may just be my imagination, but it makes me feel good so I do it anyway!). However, I consider any color that shies away from my typical black to be “bright”; whatever your favorite color is to wear, I’m sure it will look awesome with your super skinny [white] jeans and some of your more classic and simple accessories. So, trust me beauties, if you haven’t before, try it out! I can promise you won’t be disappointed.

Hopefully y’all love this outfit (and white jeans, obviously!) as much as I do; I can’t wait to hear your thoughts, lovelies! I hope your week starts off on the right foot, have a great day, beauties!

OOTD: When Will Spring/Summer Be Back?

Good morning and happy Friday lovelies!

I hope you all have had a fabulous week and you’re getting ready for the weekend ahead (I know I am…)! So, the not so pleasant temperatures and weather this week were a big wake-up call for those of us who thought Spring was on its way out and Summer was almost here (I don’t know about you, but I am so over the rain and not so seasonal temperatures…). But, the positive from it all is that it gives us the chance to mix up our outfits a little and pair long sleeves with shorts, which just so happens to be one of my favorite combos.

While I am sitting in my office wishing I was wearing something as cute, “Springy”, and comfy, I sincerely hope y’all are able to rock something as awesome as this today (and every day, really…)!

Outfit Of The Day: Trendy Tuesday

Top: J. Crew, $205 – sold out (similar: VINCE, $160); Shorts: J. Crew, $80; Shoes: Tory Burch, $123; Clutch: Jimmy Choo, $975; Earrings: kate spade, $48.

Is this an awesome spring outfit, or what?! I have these shorts in both white and regular denim, and they are my absolute favorite.  I tend to get most of my shorts from J. Crew (because they aren’t so short that my butt hangs out, but they aren’t “mom” shorts either…), but these are, hands down, my favorite; they are super comfy and they go with almost anything! While it is a little harder to dress these up than the typical chino shorts I usually get, they are perfect for the days when I am trying to be a little more casual and low-key.

Also, can we just take a minute and stare at that clutch? I know it is a little bit pricey for a clutch (at least for my budget it is!), but it is absolutely fantastic and I just have to have it (well, maybe one day!).  It really does add a little something to the outfit and if you ask me it is almost a practical purchase because it can be used for so many different occasions.  Whether it is a casual day on the town with a more relaxed outfit like this one, a night out with the girls, a fancy party at work, or maybe even a wedding (aka, my sister is getting married soon so I basically have to get it for that, right?), this clutch can be incorporated into your ensemble!  That totally justifies me buying it, right?  You all know my opinions of today’s OOTD, so now I want to know yours! Do you love it as much as I do? Are you drooling over that Jimmy clutch like I so clearly am?

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts, beauties! I hope all of you have an absolutely fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Some Words Of Wisdom This Motivational Monday…

Good morning and happy Monday gorgeous! I hope you all had an amazing weekend and you enjoyed the beyond scorching weather! I had to work for part of the weekend and I thought my skin might be melting off at some points… But, the good news is that this week is supposed to cool down a little and be beautiful outside! Finally. But, getting back to business… Today we have an amazing quote of the day to bring you a little motivation and inspiration on this Monday morning. I also added a little personal story for ya on what this quote means to me. I got a little sappy and emotional this morning guys, so beware! So, I’m really sorry in advance…

QOTD - Motivational Monday (7.28.2014)

One thing that I have been struggling with lately is worrying too much about what I am not doing and what I could be doing, rather than just enjoying what I am currently doing.  I may not have my dream job at this point in time and I may not be exactly where I envisioned, but this is still my life.  Right after graduation I went through a period of time when I was very sad and upset about the fact that I was going to be a lifeguard with a college degree… I didn’t have a “real” job (or what I thought I should have) and I didn’t have a boyfriend like a lot of my friends and my big sister did and it really got to me.

I was actively looking and applying for every job I could possibly find, but still I had “nothing”.  However, after the pool finally opened and I started working more often and having the ability to do fun things with my best friends from high school, being able to go to the gym in the middle of the day when it was empty, and probably the best part of all, getting to lay at the pool all day and get paid for it, I realized that I needed to appreciate the things that I did have more than the things I felt I should have.  I am so lucky to be able to have a part time job and live at home with my parents while I look for a job. I know there are a lot of people out there who do not have that option available to them, and for that I am so grateful to my parents.  I also realized that this is probably the last time for the rest of my life (until I retire, of course…) that I will be able to not have a full-time job and to do all of the fun things I have been able to do.  So, basically what I have taken away from this, is that (for now) I need to live in the moment and enjoy this time that I have. I need to appreciate the fact that I can go out on a Monday or Tuesday night if I want to and I need to take advantage of it. And I need to do everything I can to help out and spend as much time with my family and friends as I can, because I won’t have as much spare time when I have a “real” job.

The most surprising part of this “funk” I went through was the fact that I was dwelling on not having a boyfriend in my life.  That is something that I have never worried about or used to define me.  I am a firm believer that if you spend all your time waiting around and looking for the right person, you will not find them.  I have also always been extremely comfortable and okay with doing my own thing.  I don’t need a boyfriend and for a long time I didn’t really want one.  However, I think the fact that I was graduating and coming home where my best friend had a serious boyfriend of a few years, and my sister (who had previously been single, and been the one who always went out with me and did everything with me) now had a serious boyfriend, got me thinking that maybe something was wrong with me.  Everyone around me was in a relationship and that just made me feel like I needed to be also. However, my best friend had been in a relationship for the past four years, so this was nothing new. We still do a lot of things together and sometimes her boyfriend would come with us. I was (and am) extremely happy for my sister, but the fact that we wouldn’t be spending as much time together or be doing things like we used to really upset me and made me feel like I was losing her.  I still have a sister, it is just different now.  As you grow up things change, and I realized that this was just the beginning of so many of the changes that were to come.

So, basically, what I am trying to convey to you lovelies, is that just because you may not be exactly where you feel you should be or where everyone else is, doesn’t mean that you’re a failure.  You are not any better or worse off than anyone else, you are simply in a different place than others.  Don’t worry about what tomorrow will bring or what the future holds, just focus on today and make it the best day it can possibly be.  Don’t ever let being in a relationship define your self worth or make you feel like you aren’t good enough.  Everything will happen when it is meant to happen, and until then just enjoy your life the way it is and make the most of everyday!

OOTD: Wallet Friendly Friday

Hello there, and happy Friday everyone! I hope you are all having a fabulous Friday so far, and you’re getting ready for the weekend! I know I most certainly am… I am coming home this weekend, and I cannot wait to see my family! Next week is my spring break (yeah, I know… I don’t get to go anywhere fun. What a bummer, right?!), and I am excited to just get to come home, spend time with my family, and relax a little bit! With graduation coming quickly, I have been stressing about jobs (applying, interviewing, actually getting one…) a lot lately, so I want to come home and take this week to just step away from it all and relax a little!

But, enough about me… This week’s Wallet Friendly Friday is super cute! It’s the perfect outfit for a night on the town, and with the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having lately, I figured it was the perfect way to kick off this Friday and get everyone excited and motivated for the fun activities that will occur this weekend.  So, here ya go ladies… Wallet Friendly Friday:

Top: Dorothy Perkins, $44; Pants: H&M, $33; Shoes: Forever 21, $33; Bag: Mango, $90, Bracelet: C. Wonder$58 $45; Earrings: Debenhams$15 $12.

Does that make you want to go out, or what? Getting dressed is always one of the hardest parts of going out for me (I just never know what to wear!), but when I finally figure it out or when I have an awesome outfit that I am excited to wear, I am always so pumped to hit the town with my friends! I don’t know if you are anything like me, in that regard, but this is definitely an outfit that would make me want to go downtown with the ladies for the evening!

I hope you all have a wonderful evening, and a great weekend! Do you have any awesome plans? What do you think of this outfit? Anything else? Let me know by commenting below!

Happy Friday Beauties!!!

It’s finally here… The weekend is upon us and there is so much to be happy about! With fall in full swing now, I figured what better way to do this week’s Wallet Friendly Friday, than with an amazing sweater and boot combination that is perfect for any day, and also won’t break the bank! As I may have mentioned a few time… (hehe) sweaters and boots are my favorite part of the colder months! Being a summer girl myself, I am not a huge fan of the winter (I am just always so cold!), but the big, comfy, oversized sweater trend has definitely given me something to look forward to the past few years when the colder days start coming around!  So now, this week’s Wallet Friendly Friday

Outfit Of The Day - Wallet Friendly Friday

Top:  American Eagle Tunic Sweater – ae.com, $55 $50

Pants: H&M Skinny Low Jeans – hm.com, $32

Shoes: Steve Madden Craave Boots – zappos.com, $100

Bag: ALDO Frattapolesine – aldoshoes.com, $50

Rings: Orelia 5 Row Mixed Plate Ring Set – johnlewis.com, $29

Watch: Eliza Chunky Chain Watch – boohoo.com, $30

Earrings: Lucky Brand Large Spike Stud Earrings – luckybrand.com, $19

What’s not to love?! I don’t think I have ever met anyone who doesn’t love a good sweater with some awesome boots!

This weekend my sister, Danielle, is coming to visit me for JMU‘s Homecoming Weekend! I am so excited and cannot wait to see her! She graduated from her undergrad (with a degree with Psychology) in 2011 – right after my freshman year – but stayed for another year and went to graduate school (with a MAT in Early Childhood Special Education).  So, the past two years have been so weird without her here after having my first two years with her! Going from seeing her everyday (having dinner together, having a permanent gym buddy, etc.), to barely seeing her once a month has been really weird for the both of us! The one thing I am looking forward to about graduating and going to live at home for a little while (hopefully not too long… I want to be employed eventually!) is that I get to have my best friend back!

Anyway, now that I have just rambled for 5 minutes… I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I hope you have some fun Halloween festivities planned!

Happy Friday Everyone! The Weekend Is Almost Here!

Good morning! I can honestly say that I have not been so excited for Friday in a long time! This week was my midterms week, and let me tell you… it was NOT fun! But, it is finally over, the weekend is here, and I am ready to have some fun and catch up on relaxation and sleep! Today’s Outfit of the Day is a budget savvy ensemble (duh Kristen… it’s Friday!) that really is perfect for so many occasions! It is the perfect outfit for a day in the office or even for a dinner date or dinner party! No matter what your weekend may have in store, you can probably find something to wear this super awesome outfit for!

Outfit Of The Day - Wallet Friendly Friday

Top: H&M Chiffon Blouse – hm.com, $25

Skirt:  Monki Louise Skirt – monki.com, $47

Shoes:  Just Fab Iva Heels (Black) – heels.com, $55

Bag: H&M Handbag – hm.com, $20

Bracelets:  Juicy Couture Narrow Pyramid USB Bracelet – juicycouture.com$38 $20

Abro Bracelet – zalando.co.uk, $35

Watch: Designer Enamel Black Bangle Watch – debenhams.com$72 $64

Earrings:  Kenneth Cole NY Hematite Tone Faceted Stone Drop Earrings – macys.com, $24

Nails:  OPI Lincoln Park After Dark – ulta.com, $9

OPI Bubble Bath – ulta.com, $9

Beauty Tip:

Whether you like your nails to make a statement or not, you should always have nail polish on them, ladies! Even if you do not like to draw attention to them, use a neutral, clean color like Bubble Bath made by OPI (or, if you’re an Essie fan, I also love Mademoiselle!) However, if you’re trying to make a statement with your nails, my all time favorite, and go-to fall color is Lincoln Park After Dark (also by OPI).

One of my biggest pet peeves is when women walk around with chipped nail polish.. its gross ladies, please do not do it! I am telling you, it really does say more about you than you would think!

Anyway, now that I have gotten my daily rant out of the way, with that being said I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and do a lot of fun (or, if you had a week like mine, relaxation).  Even if you are on a tight budget, you can do a little shopping and pick up something along these lines for Motivational Monday to look your best and start your week out on the right foot next week!

XOXO, Kristen
